Date of birth: 5 December 1933 at Maupin Street, Port-Louis (2nd a of a big family of 14 children)
Primary Education – 1939 to 1941 at De la Salle primary school, Port-Louis
                            – 1941 to 1944 at Saint Enfant Jesus, R.Hill.

Secondary Education – 1945 to 1949 at New Eton College

Teachers’ Training school – 1950 to 1951
Employment as teacher at New Eton College 1952 to 1957.

Employment as (1) teacher at Eden College 1957 to 1962

                        (2) administration at Eden College 1962 to 1963.

In 1960, he joined the PMSD of Jules Koenig.  He became member of the Municipal Council of B.Bassin/R.Hill by walkover in 1960.

He lost the election of 1963 against Regis Chaperon but was elected at the Municipal Council in the same year.
In 1964, his health was deteriorated.  He went to England for treatment of Hodgekin disease in 1966. 
After he came back, he became Mayor of the town he was presented as one of the candidates of the PMSD at a national meeting by young Gaetan Duval for Beau Bassin/ R.Hill.
He was elected in the general elections of 1967.
From 1968 to 1971 – He was member of cabinet in the coalition Government of PTr/PMSD occupying the Ministries of
(a) State for Finance and
(b) State for External Affairs
